Privacy Policy
Effective date: 14 June 2026
Glyph is built so that your notes stay with you. The recognition that turns your handwriting into text happens on your device, and your notes are not uploaded to our servers. This policy explains what that means in practice.
The short version
- Your scanned images and recognized text are stored on your device, not on our servers.
- Handwriting recognition runs locally on your iPhone using Apple's frameworks.
- Glyph does not require an account, an email address, or a password.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Who we are
Glyph (the "app") is provided by Thijs Hiemstra ("we", "us", or "our"). You can reach us at support@revisit.gallery with any questions about this policy or your data.
Information stored on your device
When you use Glyph, the following is created and kept locally on your device:
- The photos you capture of notes and whiteboards.
- The text recognized from those images.
- The folders, tags, titles, and search index you create to organize your notes.
- App settings and preferences, such as onboarding answers used to personalize the experience.
This information is not transmitted to us. It remains on your device unless you choose to export or share it, or unless you enable an optional device backup feature described below.
On-device processing
Handwriting and text recognition is performed on your device using Apple's on-device frameworks. Your images are not sent to us or to a third party for recognition. Because the processing is local, the core features of Glyph work without an internet connection.
Information we may process to run the service
A small amount of information is necessary to operate subscriptions and to keep the app working:
- Purchase and subscription data. When you start a trial or buy a subscription, the transaction is handled by Apple and by our subscription provider, RevenueCat. They process a non-personal identifier and your purchase status so the app knows whether your subscription is active. This does not include the contents of your notes.
- Diagnostic and usage data. If enabled, Apple may share aggregate, non-identifying analytics with us through App Analytics (for example, the number of installs or crashes). We use this only to understand overall performance, not to identify you.
Subscriptions and payments
Glyph offers an optional subscription with a free trial. Payments are processed by Apple through your App Store account. We never see or store your payment card details. Subscription status is managed with the help of RevenueCat, which acts as our service provider. For details on how these companies handle data, see Apple's privacy policy and RevenueCat's privacy policy.
Optional device backup
If a future version of Glyph offers backup through Apple's iCloud, that data is stored in your own Apple account under Apple's terms and is not accessible to us. This feature, if present, is optional and is controlled by you in your device settings.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your personal information.
- We do not upload the contents of your notes to our servers.
- We do not use third-party advertising or tracking software development kits inside the app.
How your information is protected
Because your notes live on your device, their security is tied to the security of your device. We recommend using a passcode and Face ID or Touch ID, and keeping iOS up to date. Any limited data handled by our service providers is protected under their respective security practices.
Your choices and rights
You are in control of your data. You can delete any note inside the app, which removes it from your device. You can uninstall the app to remove its local data from your device. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, including the right to access, correct, or delete personal information. To make a request, contact us at support@revisit.gallery.
Children's privacy
Glyph is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can address it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, provide notice within the app. Your continued use of Glyph after an update means you accept the revised policy.
